Welcome To St. Mary Dedication British International School

It is with pleasure that I extended to you a warm welcome to St Mary Dedication British International School (High School), Benin, Nigeria. The high school is a secondary school from JSS1 to A-levels. Students study the National Curriculum for England which includes sitting the Cambridge checkpoint at JSS3, IGCSE at SS2 and Cambridge AS/A level at sixth form. Students also study and sit for WAEC and NECO.
St Mary also offers enrichment through various extracurricular activities which includes Coding, Art & Craft, Music, Drama, sports and STEM related activities.
At St Mary’s, students are provided an enabling environment, taught in a creative and challenging way which matches the students’ need and abilities as such they acquire key skills and giving them a path to excel and be global citizens

SECONDARY

The secondary school exceeds the average secondary school in terms of its advanced curriculum, running a long side with the o level, thus distinguishing St. Mary’s from an ordinary secondary school to a high school as it operates a higher curriculum that incorporates the A ‘levels as part of our school system. St. Mary's High School fosters an environmental of encouragement of support from these transitioning from primary, throughout their course at the secondary school. Through the advanced academic program, the extra-curricular activities of inter and intra house sports and educational trips within and outside the country, and our regular chapel services.

A-LEVEL

The Advanced level (A-level) department was introduced shortly after the school was accredited a British international school. That is, the school possesses the licence to operate the British curriculum in addition to the schools existing curriculum. The A’ level programme is the final step after senior secondary class iii and the stage before university. The A level curriculum is designed to be an engaging experience that intentionally integrates many of the same demands and opportunities that students will find in University. Advanced level (A LEVEL) take core academic and social requirements, but also have several opportunities to direct their own education through courses of their choosing, which will in turn shape the degree they go on to study at university. The heart of our Alevel program is an inspired faculty representing an extraordinary breadth of experience and interests that they share willingly with students. Teachers create an environment in which students are excited to show up early, happy to stay late, and eager to participate in class. Rapport drives classroom discussions in which teachers and students push each other to take learning further.
